I POOL OPERATION

c) Pool Closings:

The pool will be closed for swimming on any day that the 12:00 P.M. air temperature is under 65°F. The air temperature will be rechecked at 4:00 P.M., and if it is 65°F or higher, the pool will be opened for evening swimming. However, the manager may close the pool if he/she believes weather conditions make it unsafe. The pool will also close at any time the mechanical workings are not functioning properly or any significant health related issue arises.

II POOL ACTIVITIES

1. Adults Only Swim and Social

During the pool season, adults only (as defined on page 2) are invited to come out every Sunday from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., for socializing, swimming and water volleyball. No sign up is necessary -- just come and enjoy the pool without the children.

2. Ladies’ Day

Beginning early June once school is out, every Wednesday from 10:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. is Ladies ONLY Swim.

3. Special Pre-School Time in the Baby Pool

The baby pool will be available for parents and their children, ages 4 and under, from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in June and July. Children must be closely supervised, as there will be no lifeguard on duty.

4. Special Summer Social Events

Refer to the Social & Sporting Events schedule posted at www.HuntingtonPool.org and watch the bulletin board and web pages for further information on these social events.

5. Swim Lesson Information (Available For Members in Good Standing Only)

a) Learn To Swim (Group Lessons)

Huntington Learn-to-Swim lessons will meet Red Cross requirements through seven (7) levels of achievement. Lessons run for two-week sessions Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday through the summer.

The first session begins in early June. The lessons will be 30 minutes long, starting at either 11:00 A.M. or 11:30 A.M. Evening lessons may also be offered. Contact the office to sign up for lessons. Sign up is first come first served. Schedule is posted at www.HuntingtonPool.org

b) Stroke Clinic

Each stroke will be covered separately. We will take the strokes apart, working on the kick, then the arm stroke, then the complete stroke. We will also work on the starts and turns for each stroke. Contact the office for particulars.

c) Private Lessons

The teacher or coach will work with the student on whatever stroke or parts of strokes desired. Dates and times can be arranged with instructor of your choice through the pool office.

6. Swim Team: The Huntington Barracudas

The Huntington Pool participates in the Naperville Park District Summer Swim Team program. Children ages 6-18 are eligible. The Swim Team and its Board are subsidized by the Swim & Tennis Club. Practices are held in the morning with meets scheduled during June and July, culminating in Classic and City meets. Registration is held in April. Please see www.HuintingtonPool.org or contact the Co-Chairpersons for more information about swim team participation.

7. Swim Meets

Home swim meets will be held as listed on www.HuntingtonPool.org Please remember that home meets start at 5:30 P.M. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at 8:30 A.M. on Saturdays, and the pool will close early for the Swim Meets and set up.

III VOLLEYBALL & TENNIS ACTIVITIES

"Beach" Volleyball - Members are encouraged to participate in impromptu volleyball games at any time. Social also organizes games. See www.HuntingtonPool.org

IV Club RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. General Rules

a) All members and guests are expected to comply with the established rules and regulations. They have been established to ensure safe and orderly operation of the pool and thereby ensure that all will receive the greatest benefits of the use of the facility.

b) The pool management and staff are charged with the enforcement of these rules and regulations. The pool manager is authorized to establish temporary action when necessary.

c) Pool management and staff should not be interfered with or reprimanded by members of the Club. This can lead to confusion, frustration and losing valuable staff members. Suggestions or complaints should be made in writing, stating facts briefly, and turned in to the pool office or emailed to a member of the HSTC Board. The Pool manager is supervised by the club President. The pool staff is not supervised by the club members or even past board members.

d) Members and guests use the Club facilities at their own risk. The Club is not responsible for the destruction, theft, loss or damage to the person or property of any member or guest.

e) Any property of the Club broken or damaged by a member or his guest shall be paid for by the member.

f) Admission to the use of the Club's facilities will be permitted only by checking in at the front desk of the pool. Only members in good standing (fees paid in full) will be allowed entrance to the pool. The staff at the desk office shall be provided with a list of all members and their addresses to ensure only authorized use of the pool. For consistent enforcement and accurate pool records all members and guests should sign in and out.

g) Any member who willfully permits the use of his name by an unauthorized person will be subject to a loss of privileges for ten (10) days. Repeated violations may result in the termination of membership.

h) Children under twelve years of age will not be admitted or permitted to remain after 7:00 P.M. unless accompanied and supervised by a responsible person 18 years old or over.

i) Children under the age of nine (9) must be accompanied by a responsible person while attending the pool. Weak swimmers and Children under 6 must be under constant adult supervision.

j) Only children ages 4 and under will be permitted in the baby pool. These young children must also be under the supervision of a parent or other responsible adult.

k) This is a family orientated club. Members and their guests are expected to conduct themselves in a respectable manner. Profane or abusive language, lewd, threatening, violent, hazardous, rowdy or obscene behavior, and will not be tolerated. Club privileges can be suspended.

l) All swimmers under the age of 18 will be subject to an enforced rest period of ten to fifteen minutes every hour, as determined by the guard(s) on duty.

m) Unlocked lockers may be provided for the general daily use of the members. Any padlocks must be removed nightly.

n) Parties of ten or more must provide two weeks notice to the pool office to ensure a sufficient number of guards are available. A refundable $50.00 cleaning deposit is required. The deposit should handed to on-duty guard before the beginning of party and refunded back at the end of the event if area is cleaned-up back to its original condition

2. Guests

a) Maintenance members are not allowed to attend as guests but can attend social events and play tennis.

b) Guest fees for persons under 18 years of age are $3.00 per day. Guest fees for adults (persons 18 years of age and older) are $5.00 per day. Guests must register and pay prior to admission to the pool tennis or volleyball courts.

c) Out of DuPage County house guests or relatives staying overnight at your home (or local Hotel) will be able to use the pool, volleyball court, or tennis courts at no charge, when accompanied by the pool member. ID must be provided and a guest registration form must be completed for each guest at least once per summer.

d) A guest must abide by pool rules and regulations.

e) At the pool manager's discretion, guests may be refused admission. Excessive use of guest privileges will be addressed as deemed appropriate by the board of directors.

f) Baby-sitters may bring member's children to pool without paying a guest fee. This assumes that their primary activity at the pool is supervising the children.

g) Persons not involved in Club Activities will be asked to leave. For the protection of our members no loitering is allowed on club property.

h) Keep It Clean Please dispose of your trash and recycle.

i) Those who refuse to comply with our rules and ordinances will have their privileges revoked without a refund.

3. Grounds

a) Parking of automobiles is permitted in the parking area. Parking in the emergency area is prohibited. The Club disclaims any liability for the theft of any automobile or for the damage to any automobile.

b) The Club does not provide parking attendants and no employee shall be required or permitted to drive or park the automobile for a member or guest.

c) Dogs, cats or pets are not permitted in the Club House or on the pool grounds while the club is open for the regular swim season.

d) No smoking in the bath house or pool area. Smoking is only permitted in the adult area adjacent to the pool deck. This is a State of Illinois Health Department Law.

e) Food and beverages are prohibited in the pool deck areas by order of the DuPage County Health Department. Confine such activities to the refreshment areas which are clearly marked. All refuse should be placed in the containers provided. Glass of any type is strictly prohibited. No chewing gum will be allowed.

f) Club employees shall not be sent off of the Club grounds by members.

g) No notice, sign, decoration or picture shall be posted any place in the Club House except with the approval of the manager. Notices must be located on bulletin boards. Please avoid using Masking tape or other adhesives which leave a mark

h) All bicycles are to be kept outside at or near the bicycle rack.

i) Only clean footwear, baby strollers or wheelchairs are allowed in the pool area or bath house. Chairs and strollers must be kept along the fence lines away from the water’s edge. They cannot block walkways and entrances

4. Health All Illinois Health Codes will be enforced. These prohibit spectators or persons wearing cut off shorts, street clothing or bandages, and those with open sores or infections, from entering the pool area.

a) All persons are encouraged to take a shower before entering the pool.

b) Wearing apparel, other than swim wear, will not be allowed in the pool area except during swim meets, other special occasions when the pool is closed to open swimming. No cut-offs or shorts of any kind!!!

c) Suntan oil must be removed by showering before entering the pool. (Baby oil also.)

d) Spitting, spouting water from the mouth, or blowing your nose in the water is strictly forbidden.

e) Swim diapers are required for children who are not toilet trained. Disposable or cloth diapers are not allowed in the pool area. (Health Department Requirement)

5. Safety

a) Swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool before being allowed to swim in the deep area. Children unable to meet the above requirement may be allowed in the deep end if there is a parent, or supervising adult, in the deep end of the pool accompanying the child. If the guards are in doubt, any swimmer may be asked to demonstrate this ability. The guard's decision should not be questioned.

b) Glass containers will not be allowed in or around the pool areas.

c) Use of facemasks or other equipment may be restricted in the pool at the descression of the pool manager.

d) Flotation devices other than U.S. Coast Guard approved Type II and III flotation devices may be restricted by the lifeguards during crowded conditions as they may restrict the lifeguards view of swimmers. It is important that all swimmers in water over shoulder height are able to stay afloat autonomously. Inflatable tube or "water-wing" type devices cannot guarantee this level of safety. Furthermore, falling from floats can lead to head injuries when floats are used too close to the edge or in crowded pools.

e) At the discretion of our lifeguard’s snorkels, masks, fins or toys are not allowed in the pool when the pool even slightly crowded. Special exceptions are often made for sponge balls, adult water volleyball and of course noodle night.

f) Small items less than 3" should not be brought to the pool. They are not safe for infants or our pool drains.

g) Non swimmers and people under the age of 14 will not be permitted in the pool unless a lifeguard is on duty. No one shall enter the pool and swim alone.

h) There will be no running, pushing or dunking in the pool areas. Running is the number one cause of injuries at pools.

i) Only one person at a time will be allowed on the board. Look before you leap. Serious Injuries can happen due to collisions. Each diver must be certain the diving area is clear before diving from the board. After diving, the diver must swim immediately to the pool edge, ladder or shallow end of the pool.

j) Passing on the board, diving or jumping on the edge, hand stands, hanging on the hands, springing from a sitting position or bouncing more than once are prohibited.

k) Diving is permitted in the diving well area of the pool only. No inward or reverse dives are permitted. Exceptions may be given by the pool manager on duty for some person’s enrolled in a current diving instruction or competition programs. These exceptions may be revoked without warning with or without cause.

l) No Diving in shallow water. Shallow water diving can result in crippling injuries or even death. Even for competitive swimmers, diving instruction shall be done in the deep end only. Trained divers can dive in shallow water only during competitive programs and swim meets. Please be aware that the example you set can influence others who are less prepared.

6. Tennis Rules Regulations and Ettiquite

a) Only tennis appropriate shoes on the courts. No cleats, soccer shoes, black soled tennis shoes, as they can damage the court surface.

b) During tennis play all children and adults not playing tennis must remain outside of the fence. There will be a maximum of four (4) players per tennis court. Members playing tennis ALWAYS have priority to the courts. Those using the courts for other games must politely leave in favor of tennis players.

c) Junior players (under 16 years of age) must give adults court preference at all times on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays and on weekdays after 5:00 P.M. However, on said days, if a court is open, a Junior may play with the understanding of the adult priority. Children are permitted to play with their parents at all times.

d) Only those members age 16 and above will be allowed to schedule court time. Please refer to the pool office for more details.

e) Court time is limited to one (1) hour per day per family if others are waiting

f) Durring pool hours all players, including guests, must sign at the office before playing tennis.

g) All tennis complaints are to be made to the manager of the pool.

h) Courtesy is requested when crossing another court to get to your assigned court. Wait quietly at the side until the point is completed and then hurry across. This is also the case when chasing a ball. Wait until play is completed and then ask if they will retrieve your ball or give you permission to do so.

i) Vacate the court at the end of your hour or as quickly as possible to prevent a delay of the players waiting to come on the court.

j) Pick up all articles brought onto the court. This includes tennis balls, cans and tops, as well as trash. Please no beverages on the courts except water. Please use the benches as a way to hold and consume beverages while playing tennis.

k) There is no bikes, rollerblads, skats, or skateboards, or baseballs allowed on the courts. Parents will be held responsible for damage to the courts by their children.

7. Tennis Court Reservations

a) Rights to the tennis courts will be determined by court reservations for the entire swimming season.

b) Prior to the official opening date, and after the official closing date, the courts will be open as weather permits. Use is limited to members only and is on a first come, first served basis. Courts change on the hour regardless of how long players have occupied the courts.

c) Court reservations can be made either by phone, email or personal contact with the Club Office. Club phone number is 630-355-3344 or office@huntingtonpool.org.

d) Court reservations are limited to one (1) hour per day per family.

e) Reservations for court time can be made during regular pool hours two (2) days in advance. Reservations are not accepted until confirmed by pool staff looking at the reservation book.

f) Reservations must be made by those members intending to use the court. Members may not use another member's name to reserve a court.

g) Cancellation of reserved court time will be accepted anytime before reserved tennis time through the Club Office.

h) Reservations for courts will be held only five (5) minutes after the hour.

8. Tennis Guests

a) Guests must register at the Club Office prior to using the courts and pay a $3.00 guest fee for children under 18 and a $5.00 guest fee for adults.

b) If a pool member is receiving private tennis instruction from a non-member instructor, the instructor must pay the required guest fee. This may be waived for some season by the club board for our own tennis professionals who are actively building our tennis programs

9. "Beach" Volleyball Guests

a) Guests must register at the Club Office and pay a $3.00 guest fee for children under 18 and a $5.00 guest fee for adults.

b) A Club member must sign out the volleyball in the Club Office and will be held responsible for the ball's return.

c) All volleyball players must completely rinse/shower their feet of all sand before returning to the pool area.

10. "Lap Swimming etiquette: At certain times lanes may be designated for lap swimming.

a) Please share by swimming on the right side of the lane and allowing faster swimmers to pass.

b) Please do not stop in the lanes and block lanes.

c) If you must rest please leave the lane or stand in a corner so not to hinder other swimmers form while turning.
